0 - 2 Years old Baby Room
The ‘Baby Room’ is registered to take babies aged from birth (6 weeks). Our baby room is safe, secure, relaxed and highly stimulating environment both indoors and out.
The babies are very well catered for in a wonderful free flow environment, where toys and resources are accessible for the children to self-select.
During their first months, young babies react to people and situations with their whole bodies. They are also competent in observing and responding to their immediate environment and communicating with those around them.
One thing we hope you will notice about our nursery is the relaxed friendly atmosphere that we create and this means our children settle in very quickly. Our staff are not only well qualified to NVQ level3 with food hygiene and Paediatric certificates, but are also very experienced childcare practitioners.
2 - 3 Years Old Toddlers Room
The toddler room is divided into 3 rooms, including an accessible outdoor space fully equipped and with large open space full of nature which has a free flow access into each other to provide plenty of room for young children to explore and mix together learning through play; however we will sometimes close the connecting doors to allow for group times.
As the children in the baby room progress, children begin to show an increasing independence and obvious pleasure in moving, communicating and learning through play, so around the time of their second birthday we will arrange inductions for the child and parents to make transitions smooth and happy for all.
In the toddler room children have a slightly more structured routine to their day whilst learning through a wide range of fun activities and experiences planned for their continued learning and development by their key person who will get to know them really well.
Through a carefully planned curriculum, we provide a variety of activities to enhance and encourage your child’s emotional, social and physical development. These activities include sand and water play, a range of creative and sensory activities.
The Toddler and Baby room team care and look after babies and toddlers each day, providing and catering for their individual needs. We hold a variety of activities such as messy play, role play, outdoor play in a large and open space full of nature, singing and story time, heuristic play, treasure and talk baskets, sensory areas and plenty of play opportunities, indoor and out. We will focus the children’s next steps around the prime areas of learning: Communication and language, Physical development and personal, social and emotional development. The babies and toddlers will take regular trips into our large garden and will no doubt benefit and flourish in our loving home from home environment.
Our large and open outdoor area and garden full of nature is a particular feature of the nursery which is very well equipped and secure all round and accessible to the classroom. In line with the best practices contained in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the garden is an extension of the indoor play and learning environment, where children can choose the activities that engage or interest them.
The extensive safety surfacing has allowed us to create an all-weather playground to burn off that excess energy. We have a and a shaded area which provides additional shade on sunny days and shelter on those wet days. We have also created opportunities for children to engage with nature and living things around them such as a ‘Bug Hotel’, ‘Garden Area on the side of which children will be able to enjoy digging, planting, and feeding the birds. We have also created a decking area, a ‘Mud Kitchen’, ‘Potions Lab’. Sand and water and mark making activities are available daily during the children’s free flow experiences.
We are participating in local outings with the children after seeking permission from parents/carer, risk assessments and ratios adhered too, using the local community as an extension to the children’s learning.
Preparing for School:
Starting school is a huge milestone in your child’s life, and we believe it’s important to work with them to help them feel ready for this big change when the time comes.
When your child turns three, they will be in our preschool room where they will be encouraged to be more independent and learn and acquire new skills including early reading and writing related skills. There will be additional emphasis placed on teaching specific skills to enhance children’s love of books and reading, writing for a purpose as well as social skills, mathematical and technical skills, creative and imaginative opportunities and knowledge of the natural and man-made world.
We use play and fun activities as opportunities to encourage your child to further explore their interests, both indoors and outdoors.
We always take a positive approach to working with your child, helping to ensure they start school with a great attitude and an eagerness to learn.
